Lebron is South Beach bound!!!

Wow, Lebron is really being vilified tonight... DAY-UM!!! Alright everyone, don't hold back, tell me how you really feel!!! SMH!

I'm not the biggest sports fan, but I try to stay up on certain things, for conversational purposes mind you, but the information I retain is enough to get me over, especially if I'm conversing with a Man!  During this LeBron James Free Agent business, "basketball" could have been a sport you never even heard of, but, due to the frenzy, would have been as well versed as many, waiting for the big announcement.

And so it's Miami, where LeBron makes 1/3 of the Basketball trifecta (Wade and Bosh make the other half) that LeBron considers a guarantee to the Finals and ultimately, the Championship that has eluded "King" James during his 6 year tenure in Cleveland.  LeBron went on to say that his mother was instrumental in encouraging him to do what he needed to do for himself, and Miami was his choice, period.   Donnie Walsh, President of Basketball Operations for the NY Knicks said this, “We are disappointed that LeBron James did not pick the New York Knicks, but we respect his decision.”  I agree, but what would have been the admiral thing to do?  In an already shaky economy, LeBron's departure equals devastation for Cleveland.  Yes, there are going to be a lot of closed bars in the Cleveland area soon, that's for sure.  Another question was that of loyalty.  According to his "old" fans, he doesn't have any...  It's unfortunate that he's become public enemy #1 as far as his former loyal fans and his community for the past 6 years are concerned.  This is a question that I posed on facebook, staying in Cleveland may have been the admiral, or loyal, thing to do, but now I'm not so sure staying in Cleveland would have been the best thing, for LeBron.

At 25 years old, Lebron was ready to "fly the coop".   His 6 years in Cleveland were, arguably, his best years; what exactly did he have left for that team?  Like a child that leaves home, Lebron is ready to see the world, do different things and date hot attractive women from Miami!  Like my friend Gina said; "go smoke those cohibas, play spades and dominoes with Trina, Rick Ross and Trick Daddy, ride jet ski's at night butt naked, buy a house on star island and LIVE!!"  How can we hate on the young Man for wanting to live?!

The controversy that still surrounds his former team mate (West) and his Mother notwithstanding, young dude wanted a change and he's entitled.  Cleveland's gross display of burning his jersey upon hearing the news that he would not be returning is a disgrace.  This man worked HARD for Cleveland for years and was instrumental, no, responsible for the great strides in NBA history that team has seen in YEARS since his arrival 6 years ago, can he get some love for that?  Dan Gilbert, Owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers must have imagined he was back in time and actually OWNED LeBron, based on his reaction to LeBron not coming back.  He should have taken the high road and wished LeBron well on all future endeavors for all that young man did for his franchise..  What an idiot!

‎Carlos Wallace, President of Sol-Caritas had this to say; "Well damn.....I guess Bird, Magic and Jordan should have formed a SUPER TEAM and earned 10 rings together instead of competing against eachother like REAL CHAMPIONS."  This comment resonates the most for me.. it would have been awesome to see him compete, instead of create this "no lose" situation with 2 other awesome marquee players..  I just hope the boys play nice and share!  Here's to an exciting 2010-2011 season and to the health and well being of our NBA hero's who are out there making it happen for their teammates and us, their fans... be well.

  5. I truly feel he let a lot of people down. Some people are happy because maybe this will be a solution to be "Kobe" and the Lakers, but what it has done is taken fun out of the game. Players going from HS straight to the league weakend extremely competative college basketball and moves like this with kill the NBA.

  6. "King James" is now public enemy #1. WOW!!!!! Every baller aspires to win the big prize. Why should he be any different. Isn't that the main goal of playing? To win the championship. Cleveland had 6 or 7 years to build a team around him that could win championships. And they didn't. Now that this man has chosen to be a part of a team that can possibly give him the best chance at winning a ring everyone is booing him and is mad. I'm not hating on his decision to leave Cleveland, I am mad at the way he did it. The front office in Cleveland should not have had to hear this news on national tv along with everyone else. He owed them a phone call and nothing more.
Real basketball fans had to know he was not coming to the Knicks. Other than getting Amare Stoudemire the Knicks had no one else to help him win. I believe the same was true for the other teams that were interested in him as well. No one man can win by himself. Even his "Airness" Jordan had a great supporting cast. He could not have 3peated without Pippen, Paxson, Hodges, etc. So Lebron, Wade, and Bosh did what owners have been doing forever. They put together what they think is the powerhouse team. God bless them and I hope they get want they want.

  7. You're right Barbara! You play for an organization for 6 years, a heads up is appropriate... and making the decision themselves is pretty big.. Basketball history in the making right here... It's going to change the whole free agent/trade game that's for sure... :-) xoxo
